Embarking on a brand new journey with Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinical Medicine

    The year 2024 is a milestone for Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinical Medicine (GOCM) as the journal has decided to transition and collaborate with BMJ Publishing Group. For GOCM, this signifies a new journey, while we continue to be driven by the commitment to deliver evidence-based, reliable and robust research findings to readers.

    GOCM is a journal with its main editorial team based in China, where the female population constitutes nearly 15% of the global female population. This country has invested substantial efforts and practices in the realm of women’s health. In this context, this editorial aims to establish a platform for sharing our experiences with clinical practitioners worldwide, with the goal of enhancing the well-being of women on a global scale.

    It is crucial to acknowledge that, despite nearly 30 years since the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action on Women in 1995, the world continues to grapple with significant challenges related to gender inequality. As a practising clinician, what I stand for is unwavering—to advocate for enhanced healthcare services for women, empowering them to confront the world’s challenges with increased confidence. Through this initiative, we established this platform to foster the exchange of information, encompassing evidence-based practices, academic insights and various facets of clinical gynaecology and obstetrics.

    Over the past 3 years, the journal has published numerous articles and presented summaries of practical experiences in China, including a Chinese expert consensus on fertility-preserving treatment for young women with early-stage well-differentiated endometrial cancer,1 primary prevention strategies for pelvic floor dysfunction during pregnancy2 and guidelines for cervical cancer screening.3 Some articles have received wide attention and provide insight into the field of precision treatment for ovarian cancer4 and natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery in gynaecology.5 The accomplishment of these tasks would not have been possible without the dedication of our outstanding authors, reviewers and editors in the past years.

    In synergy with BMJ Publishing Group, GOCM is actively seeking research articles grounded in evidence in the gynaecology and obstetrics area, innovative methodologies and thought-provoking perspectives that have the capacity to enhance clinical practices and contribute to evidence-based training in gynaecology, oncology, oncofertility, pelvic medicine, maternal–fetal healthcare and reproductive medicine.

    Publication is the lifeblood of academics and researchers. We are also committed to the principles of open publishing, and in 2024 all article processing charges (APCs) for published articles will be waived. For more information, please visit our website at https://gocm.bmj.com.
